Feb 25, 2009 · LIM gaskets, most of the 3.8L cars out there have bad original gaskets. Replacing with the same black plastic seems to yield the same results, more bad gaskets. GM changed the design and came out with an aluminum gasket for the LIM's and those seem to be well made and don't deform and fail like the plastic ones do. The UIM gaskets only come as Nylon 6,6, the LIM gaskets are the ones that come in nylon 6,6 and the reliable aluminum framed one.
